Funds Education and Awareness Statewide
Funds collected from the Pink Dot Plate will be used to save lives by funding education and awareness programs statewide to inspire people to sign up with the state organ, eye and tissue donor registry.
The Need for Organ and Tissue Donation is Urgent
- One organ donor can save up to eight lives and one tissue donor can improve the lives of up to 50 people.
- California ranks first among all states in the number of candidates on the national organ transplant waiting list.
- As of April 2014, out of the 120,000 individuals on the national waiting list, 21,000 (or 18%) are California residents.
- Approximately 18 people die each day awaiting life-saving organ transplants and a new name is added to the waiting list every 10 minutes.
